                                          Sonoma County's Measure M

The Biotech Bullies have now made it to Sonoma County.

Monsanto, Bayer, Dow, Dupont, BASF, Syngenta and friends have dumped $90,000 into carpet bombing Sonoma County's radio and TV airwaves with deceptive ad that have already confused voters. Yes, the Multinational Chemical Conglomerates are now coming out in force to fight Sonoma County’s right to protect their farmers and way of life from genetic contamination.

They need-

Sonoma prides itself on being a sustainable ag county. They are home to Clover Dairy and Strauss Family Creamery. We have deep respect for farmers. Many of us farm or have done so in the past. We want the community to flourish and understand that farmers want to plant as they wish.

But what about the choice of farmers who want to grow without GMOs? Why don’t nonGMO farmers (and consumers who don’t want to eat them) get to protect themselves from genetic contamination?

Why are nonGMO farmers the ones who have to create buffer zones, plant at less optimal times, pay to test and prove their product is nonGMO? Why do organic farmers have to bear the burden of losing their premium of an organic crop if contaminated through no fault of their own? If GMO farmers can keep their GMO alfalfa pollen out of the air, then fine, we don’t care if they plant it. But they can’t.

Plants have sex, pollen travels. Contamination happens.

Can you chip in $5, $50 or more to help fight Monsanto in Sonoma County?

They can’t keep their genes in their plants.

They don’t care about cleaning up their associated chemical poisons from our planet.

Let’s not huge multinational chemical companies win in Sonoma! Please chip in from wherever you are in the U.S. to ensure we win!!

Sign Yes on 59 Petition to Overturn Citizens United!

Demand Congress listen to voters instructing them to overturn Citizens United by voting Yes on 59!
Due to the devastating Citizens United Supreme Court decision, billions of dollars of mostly hidden money is flooding this year's election.  It's corrupting our democracy.

By voting Yes on Prop 59, Californians can make a major statement to the nation demanding that Citizens United be overturned.

Prop 59 will instruct California's Congressmembers and legislators to propose and ratify a constitutional amendment overturning Citizens United and saying that money isn't speech and corporations aren't people.  No more unlimited campaign spending!

33 of California's 53 Congressmembers have already cosponsored constitutional amendments that would overturn Citizens United.  But constitutional amendments require a 2/3 vote in Congress, so we must get more to sign the Prop 59 pledge.

Please sign the new national coalition petition demanding that Congress follow Prop 59's instructions to overturn Citizens United!

Big money has drowned out the public’s voice in government.  Proposition 59 offers a rare opportunity for the public to speak up directly to demand that we remove money from politics.  Voting Yes on Prop 59 will help to get big money out of politics and restore a government of, by, and for the people.

Here's exactly what Proposition 59 asks voters to decide:

"Shall California’s elected officials use all of their constitutional authority, including, but not limited to, ratifying an amendment or amendments to the United States Constitution to overturn Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and other applicable judicial precedents, to allow the full regulation or limitation of campaign contributions and spending, to ensure that all citizens, regardless of wealth, may express their views to one another, and to make clear that corporations should not have the same rights as human beings?"

Prop 59 isn't legally binding — Congressmembers aren't required to listen to the voters.  That's why we all must demand that they do, and why a powerful national coalition has come together on this petition.

Here's what the coalition petition says:

"I'm voting for Proposition 59, the Overturn Citizens United Act, which asks Californians:

"Shall California’s elected officials use all of their constitutional authority, including, but not limited to, ratifying an amendment or amendments to the United States Constitution to overturn Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and other applicable judicial precedents, to allow the full regulation or limitation of campaign contributions and spending, to ensure that all citizens, regardless of wealth, may express their views to one another, and to make clear that corporations should not have the same rights as human beings?"

As your constituent, I'd like to ask you to please sign the pledge to represent your constituents by abiding by the will they express with their votes for Prop 59."

Please sign the new national coalition petition demanding that Congress follow Prop 59's instructions to overturn Citizens United now!
